Fields of Mistria Characters: All Villagers Guide

The people of Mistria are what make this retro-anime farming RPG feel so alive, and knowing who is who saves you a lot of wasted gifts. Fields of Mistria characters fall into three groups: 12 romanceable villagers (six bachelors and six bachelorettes), 14 regular townsfolk who keep the town running, and 8 Saturday Market vendors who set up stalls only on the weekend. How the Villagers Are Grouped

The game sorts its cast into clear buckets. Romanceable villagers are the ones you can befriend, date, and eventually marry once the 1.0 update’s full marriage system is in play. Regular townsfolk fill Mistria with life, running shops and working around town, but they can never be romanced. The Saturday Market vendors form a separate, rotating set of sellers who appear only on Saturdays with specialty goods you cannot buy elsewhere. The table is the fastest way to mark birthdays on your in-game calendar, since a loved gift on the right day earns the biggest friendship jump of the whole year. Each candidate also brings a very different personality to the table: March the blacksmith is famously grumpy about losing the spotlight, Juniper the sorceress tests her potions on unsuspecting villagers, and Balor the merchant always has a deal ready. Officially, the roster splits into six bachelors and six bachelorettes, with Caldarus sitting on the bachelor side and Seridia on the bachelorette side once they unlock. Each candidate has seasonal outfits that change with the in-game calendar, so they are easy to recognize as the year rolls by. Beyond romance, these twelve are the villagers you will interact with most, since they run many of the town’s shops, services, and festivals.

The Other Townsfolk

Fourteen villagers cannot be romanced but still shape everyday life in Mistria. The cast includes Dell, Dozy, Elsie, Errol (the museum curator), Hemlock, Henrietta, Holt, Josephine, Landen, Luc, Maple, Nora, Olric, and Terithia. They trade with you, appear at festivals, comment on your progress, and often turn out to be relatives of the marriage candidates, which gives their dialogue a lot of flavor. Errol runs the museum where you donate your finds, for example, and Olric is the brother of March the blacksmith. Several of them keep the everyday services running that you lean on during the first seasons, and their gossip and requests help you piece together the town’s history. The museum curator Errol is especially useful early on, because donating artifacts to him turns spare junk into rewards and unlocks new town perks. Befriending these townsfolk is entirely optional for romance, but it makes the town feel far more lived-in as seasons pass.

Saturday Market Vendors

On Saturdays a special market takes over part of the town, and its eight sellers are Darcy, Louis, Merri, Stillwell, Taliferro, Vera, Wheedle, and Zorel. These vendors only appear one day a week, so their stalls are the place to grab ingredients and goods that are otherwise hard to find. If a character in your guide mentions an item you cannot buy anywhere else, chances are it comes from a Saturday stall. It is worth planning errands around the market so you never miss a weekly restock. Each vendor sells a different specialty, and busy farming days make it surprisingly easy to miss the market entirely. Merri, Vera, and Wheedle are among the vendors fans mention most when discussing the market’s rotating stock. How to Raise Friendship

Friendship in Fields of Mistria is built through hearts, and the rules are simple: give one gift per day and talk to the character every day. Birthday gifts are the standout exception, because a loved item handed over on the right date is the single biggest boost available. Hearts unlock new dialogue, favor, and for romanceable villagers, the heart events that lead toward dating and marriage. Higher friendship also pays off practically, since some villagers send you letters or recipes as you grow closer. Keep a small stock of easy, universal gifts on hand so you never arrive at a door empty-handed.

Secret Romance Characters

Two of the twelve marriage candidates are hidden behind story progress rather than being available from the start. Seridia the Dragon Priestess appears early as a guide through the mines storyline and only becomes romanceable late in the game, while Caldarus the dragon guardian requires the Breaking the Fire Seal quest before you can even meet him in person. Both are fan favorites because of the mystery around them, and both were introduced with the 1.0 update. Seridia is revealed late in the main story to be the former Witch Queen and an ancient dragon, which explains the authority in her voice.
