Every villager accepts a single gift each day, and a well-chosen Loved gift is worth far more than a random item from your inventory, so a little planning goes a long way. How Gifting Works

Each character in Mistria takes exactly one gift per day, so a single present is your daily chance to win them over and you should never waste it on an item they dislike. Every item falls into one of five categories: Loved, Liked, Neutral, Disliked, or Hated, and the first two are the only ones that meaningfully speed up friendship. A Loved gift is worth 20 friendship points, a Liked gift earns 10, and a Neutral one earns just 3, while Disliked and Hated items give nothing at all. On top of that, friendship points never decay and bad gifts never reduce your relationship, so the only real cost of a wrong guess is a wasted day rather than lost progress.

Birthdays Double the Bonus

Villager birthdays are the biggest single-day friendship events in the game, so mark every one on your calendar and set aside your best gift in advance. A Loved gift handed over on the birthday is worth 40 points instead of 20, and even a Disliked item jumps to 20 points that day, which makes the date far too valuable to ignore. Add the +7 points you earn just by speaking to a character, and one well-timed birthday can push you several hearts forward at once. The Easiest Loved Gifts to Farm

Some Loved gifts are expensive or locked behind late-game content, but a handful are cheap and repeatable from early on, and those are the ones worth stocking in bulk. Villager Preference Themes

Instead of memorizing hundreds of items, learn the theme behind each character and you will rarely guess wrong in the moment. March the blacksmith loves ores, ingots, and metal treasures, so anything shiny and forged wins him over instantly, while Juniper the bathhouse sorceress favors mystical artifacts and a handful of cooked treats. Balor the traveling merchant collects gems, jewelry, and curries, and Caldarus the dragon guardian will accept almost any hearty cooked dish or seafood plate. What Not to Give

A short list of universal dislikes covers most villagers: bugs and insects, acorns, fiber, hay, cat and dog treats, and heart-shaped breeding treats all fall completely flat. Individual characters add their own taboos, like March’s hatred of flowers and most artifacts, or Caldarus’s dislike of dragon parts such as Dragon’s Claw. Juniper is one of the few characters with a true hated item in Sod, so never hand her a lump of dirt even as a joke. Since these gifts only waste your daily chance rather than costing points, keeping a mental list of taboos means you will never miss a Loved window.

Quick Pro Tips

Start mining early, because the upper floors of the Mines hand out Perfect Copper Ore and Perfect Ruby, which cover two of the four hardest villagers before you even reach your first birthday season. Plan around birthdays first, since the doubled Loved bonus is the most efficient friendship you will ever earn in a single interaction.
