The four legendary fish in Fields of Mistria — Cherry Fish, Lightning Fish, Leaf Fish and Snow Fish — are the rarest trophies in the whole fishing system, and each one only appears under very specific conditions. To catch any of them you must first reach Fishing Level 30 and unlock the Legendary perk at the Caldarus Statue on your farm. Prerequisites: Level 30 and the Legendary Perk

Legendary fish never spawn until you meet two conditions. First, raise your Fishing skill to Level 30, which takes time but comes naturally from catching everything you see. Second, visit the Caldarus Statue and unlock the Legendary talent — a Tier 3 perk that costs 80 Essence. Save up the 80 Essence it costs before you start your hunt, since unlocking it is a one-time investment. On any day when a legendary fish is active, the game announces it at the start of the day with the message “a legendary fish is nearby,” which is your signal to clear your schedule and head to the water. If that message never appears, no legendary fish is active that day no matter what the weather looks like.

Note that the two river legends do not compete for your time: the Lightning Fish wants a summer storm, while the Leaf Fish waits for a windy autumn day, so each has its own window on the calendar.

How to Catch Each One

For the Cherry Fish, pick a windy spring day and fish any pond, including the pond on your farm. For the Lightning Fish, wait for a summer thunderstorm and fish the rivers, casting through the rain as the storm rolls over the town. For the Leaf Fish, hold off until a windy autumn day and work the river, watching for the leaves that blow across the water. For the Snow Fish, go to the beach and cast into the ocean while it snows — that makes it the only one of the four tied to the beach, and the only winter entry on the list. Their shadow sizes match their normal relatives: the Cherry Fish and Leaf Fish are small shadows, while the Lightning Fish and Snow Fish are medium, so keep fishing the matching size instead of waiting for a giant shadow. Museum Reward

Donate all four legendary fish to the museum to complete the Legendary Fish Set in the Fish Wing. The Fish Wing holds 22 sets in total, and the Legendary Fish Set is one of the last you will likely finish, since it depends on rare conditions spread across the whole year. Plan Your Legendary Year
