Fields of Mistria Mines: Depths & Valuable Ores

The mines in Fields of Mistria are a multi-zone mineshaft beneath the town where you dig ores and gems, fish in underground pools and fight off monsters while hunting rare finds like Perfect Copper Ore and Perfect Ruby. Nearly every upgrade in the game flows out of these floors — tools, buildings, sprinklers and gifts all depend on what you haul up — so learning how the mines work pays off from the very first week. This guide covers how to unlock the mines, what each zone holds and the floor ranges worth memorizing.

How to Unlock the Mines

The entrance sits at the northernmost part of The Narrows, the stretch of town you reach after the early story quests, and the shaft is impossible to miss once the road is open. You unlock the mines by reaching Town Rank Stone and completing the story quest “Unlocking The Mines,” which becomes available once the town has recovered from the opening events. Once inside, the Ground Floor has a ladder down to Floor 1 and an elevator that connects every fifth floor back to the surface, so you can jump straight to your deepest unlocked checkpoint. Leaving and re-entering resets the floors you have cleared, which matters when you want to re-farm a specific level or a particular ore.

Mines Zones & Fishable Mine Pools

The mines split into themed zones as you descend: the Upper Mines (roughly floors 1-20), the Tide Caverns (21-40), the Deep Earth (41-60) and, deepest of all, the Lava Caves, with a fifth area, the Ancient Ruins, referenced as the source of Mistril Ore. Seals block the way between zones — the Water Seal near floor 20 opens the Tide Caverns, and the Earth Seal near floor 40 unlocks the Deep Earth. The Upper Mines hide small ponds on floors 4, 8 and 11 where you can catch fish like the Stone Loach and Cave Shark, while the flooded Tide Caverns let you fish on almost every floor, including the Archerfish you need for the Earth Seal. Mine fish ignore season and weather, so you can fish them all year round, and treasure chests start appearing from Floor 2 in four rarities to keep the loot flowing.

Ores & Gems Worth Mining

Plain rock nodes drop Stone, Peat, Sod and Clay, and with the Ore-Riginal skill perk they also yield a signature ore per zone, while separate nodes supply the gemstones. The rarer “Perfect” variants are the real prize, and two of them come from the easiest floors:

Perfect Copper Ore is the earliest perfect ore you can farm, and it doubles as a reliable loved gift for the blacksmith March. Perfect Ruby, also found in floors 1-20, is a standout birthday gift for the traveling merchant Balor. Keep a few of these gems on hand even after gifting, because the deeper quests — including the materials Balor asks for — will want them.

Key Floors: 1-20 and the Fire Seal at 60

If you only memorize two floor ranges, make them these two. Floors 1-20 hold the Perfect Copper Ore and Perfect Ruby you can farm for gifts and early cash, so they are worth revisiting all season. Deep in the mines, around floor 60, sits the Fire Seal, the altar you need to break to set off the quest that unlocks Caldarus as a character. To break it you place a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, Rockroot and a Sealing Scroll on the altar, and you will want to talk to Juniper at the bathhouse to decipher the tablet first, while the Sealing Scroll comes from Balor, who asks for a stack of ingots and gems left in the bin by his wagon.

Preparing for a Mine Run

Mining drains stamina quickly and every floor has monsters that attack on sight, so a good run starts before you descend. Pack cooked food to restore health and stamina, and keep your tools upgraded, because tougher nodes simply will not break with a basic pickaxe. At the entrance you will find a Dragon Statue that spends Essence on Mining and Combat perks, plus the Stone Refinery that crafts Essence Stones and eventually the Teleportation Chalice (10 Essence to warp home). Clear a floor of enemies before you fish, since an attack interrupts your cast, and new players should read the beginner tips before their first deep run.

Mines & Your Upgrade Path

Almost every upgrade path in Fields of Mistria feeds out of the mine: Copper, Iron, Silver and Gold ore upgrade your tools and buildings, and ore is the backbone of sprinklers that water your farm automatically. Because ore and gem income funds expansion, a smart farm layout frees up more days to grind deeper floors. Donate surplus ores and artifacts to the museum for rewards, but hold back what you still need for crafting. And when rare materials like the crystal berry show up, remember they come from these same floors.
